Introducing Thunder Lands

More and more NFT games are going multichain, and XP.NETWORK is at the forefront of this trend. The latest addition to our growing roster of gaming partnerships is Thunder Lands – a very interesting fantasy project running on the Polygon blockchain.

Thunder Lands is an MMORPG, which stands for a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. You may be familiar with such examples of the MMORPG genre as Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, and Elder Scrolls.

In Thunder Lands, players can choose one of several roles: squad commander, treasure seeker, or mercenary. Depending on the role, they will complete different quests, such as battling other users and collecting resources.

The game combines elements of strategy (gathering resources to take over leadership etc.) and RPG (battles). The gameplay unfolds in a series of dark worlds, carefully designed using Unreal Engine 5 – the premier game building platform used by projects like Fortnite. You can expect higher-quality graphics than in most P2E games, as well as a rich atmosphere of a real dark fantasy game.

At the same time Thunder Lands will have all the reward-earning opportunities you’d expect from a blockchain gaming project: earning tokens for battle victories, successful quests, etc. You’ll also be able to level up NFTs, such as armor and weapons.

Thunder Lands is backed by some of the best-known companies and venture funds in crypto gaming, including YGGSEA (the Southeast Asian branch of Yield Guild Gaming), Shima Capital, IVC, CGU (Crypto Gaming United), Vespertine Capital and others.

The game isn’t out yet: the first playable elements should go live around the same time as the IDO for its TNDR token in May 2022.

XP.NETWORK and Thunder Lands: what’s next?

With XP.NETWORK, any game can go multichain, transferring or expanding its NFT collections to over 10 supported networks, including BSC, Avalanche, Elrond, etc. One recent success story is Drifters, where we helped the project bring its NFTs over from Ethereum to Elrond: the collection entered the top 3 by sales volume on the major Elrond marketplaces.

With Thunder Lands, we are taking a step further, as it’s not just a metaverse (i.e. a virtual world with elements of communication and gaming) but a full-scale MMORPG with Play2Earn mechanics. It will also be the first time that a Polygon-based game expands to new chains using XP.NETWORK.

The idea of multichain in-game artifacts is very promising, because it will allow projects to merge the GameFi audiences scattered across blockchains. The success of DeFi Kingdoms on Harmony One has shown that users are willing to try a new chain if it delivers better performance and lower fees; the next step is to have games that allow you to choose the chain you want to play on.

There are already a few examples of multichain P2E projects (CryptoBlades, for example), but Thunder Lands stands out in terms of its rich and unusual visuals created using Unreal Engine. It will be one of the first cross-chain NFT games to really look and feel like an RPG.

Thunder Lands have just released their first NFT collection of armor and swords, and we can’t reveal the details of the upcoming expansion from Polygon to other chains right now. But rest assured that the fans of the game won’t be disappointed: with the XP.NETWORK bridge, this dark fantasy game will be able to tap into NFT liquidity on the most P2E-friendly networks and attract additional value for TNDR holders, too.

Play2Earn and the metaverse are two markets that rely on NFTs and can only thrive on blockchains where NFT transaction fees are low. XP.NETWORK already supports several of these chains and will add more soon, including Solana and TON.

Our portfolio of partners in the gaming world will also keep growing fast – and we’ll tell you about each one, so we suggest that you follow us on Twitter and Telegram to be the first to learn about the next collaboration. And of course, we welcome your feedback on the NFT projects we work with!
