PROJECT OVERVIEW
PROJECT OVERVIEW

We’ve integrated yet another L1 blockchain into our NFT bridge: Caduceus, built for the metaverse and mixed reality. There are many reasons to get interested in Caduceus and follow the development of its NFT and GameFi ecosystem.

caduceus.foundation

What is Caduceus blockchain?

Caduceus is a Layer-1 blockchain designed for the metaverse. Rather than just the smart contract platform, the Caduceus Metaverse Protocol includes a 3D cloud-rendering platform (necessary for VR and XR), an IPFS-based content storage system, and even a mixed reality development kit.

Metaverse apps require a high processing speed and low transaction fees. Caduceus promises to deliver between 3,000 and 100,000 transactions per second costing from $0.0001 each – cheaper than on Solana or Flow. Caduceus token is called CMP: in fact, you’ll often see Caduceus called CMP network.

The chain is also compatible with EVM and Ethereum token standards (ERC20, ERC721, ERC1155, ERC998), so it will be easy to migrate GameFi and metaverse dApps from Ethereum, BNB Chain, etc. to Caduceus. The consensus mechanism used by the network is called METAgraph, and it’s yet another innovation from the team.

Caduceus is superbly adapted for all things NFT and GameFi. For example, there are special tools for splitting NFT copyright between several users and digitizing physical NFTs. In short, for someone developing complex NFT-based games for Web3, especially using mixed reality (XR), Caduceus could be the right choice.

By the way, if you are wondering about the name: in Greek and Roman mythology, the Caduceus is the staff of the god Hermes (Mercury). It has wings at the top and two snakes coiled around it. Nowadays the Caduceus is often used to symbolize medicine, but in fact it’s associated with heralds (messengers) and merchants. Here’s an example:

XP.NETWORK and Caduceus

We are always on the lookout for promising new blockchains to link to our NFT bridge. Caduceus joins a family of over 20 networks, which include Elrond, VeChain, Algorand and Godwoken – in addition to such NFT heavyweights as Ethereum, Polygon and BNB Chain.

You can now transfer NFTs between Caduceus and any other of the supported blockchains. The XP.NETWORK bridge preserves the smart contract logic of every NFT, and the whole experience is smooth, secure and cheap.

XP.NETWORK opens up new possibilities for emerging NFT ecosystems. Supporting dApp migrations from other chains with minimal code changes is great, of course, but the real issue for any NFT project or game is how to migrate their collectibles. So in order to attract gaming projects from other blockchains, a new network needs a powerful and simple bridging solution – like XP.NETWORK.

From the point of view of individual NFT projects and games, expanding to new ecosystems helps to attract new users and liquidity, as well as spread the word: bridging a collection to a trendy chain is a very newsworthy story.

We’ll soon see if this ‘XP.NETWORK effect’ makes an impact on Caduceus NFT ecosystem. For now, let’s see what this ecosystem looks like: the games, collections and marketplaces that run on this very promising L1.

The NFT ecosystem on Caduceus

HAPEsocial: self-styled as a 3D project ‘built to unite the Ape multiverse’. Apart from a collection on OpenSea, HAPE has a marketplace on both Ethereum and Caduceus. You can buy clothes and accessories for the HAPE apes and get discounts when paying with CMP.

CaduceusPunks: no self-respecting blockchain can do without a collection of NFT punks. There are 2,500 of them on Caduceus, and some feature really creative designs.

CryptoSkyland – a multichain linkable metaverse connecting games on Caduceus and Ethereum, with NFT collections of ‘Skytopian residents’.

Apart from these three, Caduceus has dozens of NFT partners, including Atreus Marketplace, Sugar Kingdom, Souls of Meta, Elemon, Age of Tanks, MetroGalaxy, Nunu Spirits, Mechaverse, etc. You can find them on the Ecosystem page.

By the way, the Caduceus Foundation has an incubator, M4TTER, for NFT, GameFi, and DeFi projects. This should give an additional boost to the NFT ecosystem, so watch this space.

How to bridge to and from Caduceus with XP.NETWORK and MetaMask

To start using XP.NETWORK with Caduceus, you’ll need to add it to MetaMask. In the wallet, click on the current network (e.g. Ethereum), then on Add a Network and enter the following parameters:

Name: CMPRPC

URL: https://mainnet.block.caduceus.foundation/

Chain ID: 256256

Symbol: CMP

Block Scan URL: https://mainnet.scan.caduceus.foundation/

CMP will appear on the list of networks in MetaMask. The next step is to buy some CMP on KuCoin, Gate.io, MEXC, ByBit or another exchange and withdraw them to MetaMask. You’ll need CMP to pay gas fees if you bridge an NFT from Caduceus to another chain. If you bridge from another blockchain to Caduceus, however, all fees (gas and the XP.NETWORK bridging fee) will be in the origin chain tokens (BNB, MATIC and so on).

Next, connect your wallet to the bridge, choose the origin chain (from which you’ll be bridging) and Caduceus as the destination chain. Enter your MetaMask address as the recipient address - since your MetaMask address is the same on all the chains that you add to it. If it’s your first time bridging, start with something of minor value, like an NFT from a game.
