PROJECT OVERVIEW

Hog Homies are an exclusive collection of 75 hand-drawn rapper pigs. Thanks to our groundbreaking NFT bridge technology, the Homies have now entered the Elrond ecosystem with a special OG collection, VIP passes, and even exclusive Homies vs. BAYC comics.

Why are NFT projects so interested in Elrond?

Elrond is the dark horse of L1 blockchains – and one of our all-time favorites. This fantasy-themed network is very fast (up to 15,000 tps and 6-second latency), and the fees are so low you won’t even notice them. It also supports NFTs natively, so you don’t need to create a separate smart contract for each collection.

The NFT ecosystem on Elrond has been growing extremely fast, though it’s still flying under the radar for most users. But we wouldn’t be surprised if it literally explodes in the next cycle – and that’s why, when an NFT project contacts XP.NETWORK and asks which new blockchain it should expand to, we often recommend Elrond.

XP.NETWORK has already helped bridge one high-profile NFT collection from Ethereum to Elrond: Drifters, a metaverse built around a collection of Avatars. Shortly after the move, Drifters became one of the trending collections on XOXNO and DeadRare, one of the biggest NFT marketplaces on Elrond.

Armed with this experience, we were very excited to collaborate with another major Ethereum-based project: Hog Homies. This time, the task was even more ambitious: move not one, but four brand-new collections with different smart contract logic.

About Hog Homies

About Hog Homies

Hog Homies are a very limited collection of just 75 hand-drawn pigs who happen to be hip hop artists. Their looks and names are inspired by real-life famous rappers: for example, you’ll find A$AP Hoggy (for A$AP Rocky), Snoop Pigg, Haminem (Eminem), and Cardi Bacon. The head of the project is a popular musician with a large following in the world of hip hop.

However, it’s not just their fun and unique design that makes Homies so interesting. Behind them, there is a whole rap game, where users will be able to earn rewards based on how popular their character becomes in the ecosystem. Hog Homies even own virtual land in The Sandbox where they will perform, organize VIP events, play meta music videos, sell collectibles, etc.

Every holder receives a share of the royalties from the total sales volume of the collection. Considering Many of the Homies have sold for over $1000 in the secondary market, this is an interesting opportunity for the next NFT bull market.

The challenge: bridging 4 Hog Homies collections to Elrond

Together with the original Hog Homies collection, the creators decided to bridge several additional products to Elrond, resulting in a move of 4 collections:

  • Hog Homies OG collection: the original 75 pig rappers. The holder of each OG owns a percentage of the whole Hog Homies brand. These have been selling for $4000-8000in EGLD since the migration.
  • Hog Homies OG Pass: a lifetime membership that gives holders access to NFT whitelists, the future Rap Battle game, and Hog Homies events in the metaverse and in real life.
  • VIP Gold Pass: free mints and airdrops of all future collections from the Hog Homies brand (around $2000 apiece).
  • Haminem vs. Bored Ape: an Elrond-exclusive comic series where a pig that looks suspiciously like Eminem battles an ape. This is the first time that a character from the BAYC universe enters the world of Elrond – though the actual comics haven’t been revealed yet.

Moving 4 collections would have been a difficult task for any bridge, but the team of XP.NETWORK has a wealth of experience migrating NFTs between EVM and non-EVM chains (such as Elrond) while preserving the smart contract logic. For example, if an NFT features a royalty function on the origin chain, the royalties will be generated also on the target chain.

Further, we have implemented a special widget that allows you to bridge from Ethereum to Elrond even more easily:

The migration yielded the results that the creators had hoped for. The Hog Homies pass quickly became a top-20 collection on Elrond, while the Bored Apes comics and the VIP Gold Passes found places in the top 50.

XP.NETWORK is in talks with many more NFT, gaming, and metaverse projects wishing to expand to new networks, such as Elrond, Polygon, BSC, and others. This is a way to access new audiences and liquidity – at the same time saving a lot on gas fees.
