About Rocket Monsters

Rocket Monsters is a third-person galactic shooter that brings together Play-to-Earn rewards, PvP (player vs. player), and PvE (player vs. environment). However, that’s not what makes the project so special.

First of all, Rocket Monsters runs on Tezos – a fast blockchain launched back in 2018 that is coming back into the spotlight. For years, Tezos was overshadowed by newer chains like Solana and Avalanche, but it’s actually very well suited for NFTs and gaming.

Second of all, Rocket Monsters is built with Unreal Engine 5, the world’s premier toolset for creating computer games. As a result, the project will have high-quality graphics and a realistic, immersive gameplay.

At the core of Rocket Monsters is the Bear Battalion – a collection of 10,000 unique, 1:1 NFTs that look like a mix between bears, demons, and even pirates. Many of them have cool names like Zeren or Lunar Knight. The gameplay will center on battles against enemy bears.

A new challenge for XP.NETWORK: migrating from Tezos
to Harmony

The Bear Battalion was originally minted on Tezos and traded on the Tezos-based Kalamint marketplace. This blockchain has many advantages for a P2E game: it’s very energy-efficient with a small carbon footprint, plus the cost of minting an NFT is below $0.2.

However, upon much consideration, the team decided that the game’s ecosystem would grow faster if it was housed on an EVM-compatible chain that already hosts some major P2E projects and has a large gaming community.

Harmony was the obvious choice:
1) it supports EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine), which in general makes it easier to attract users and projects.
2) It can process up to 2,000 transactions per second at the cost of less than $0.0001 per transaction;
3) It’s home to the famous Play-to-Earn game DeFi Kingdoms;
4) There are several popular NFT marketplaces on Harmony, including NFTKey and Metatrone.

Once the decision was taken , the next challenge was technical: moving the Bear Battalion from the non-EVM Tezos to the EVM-friendly Harmony. The issue is not as trivial as you may think, as these two blockchains use very different technical stacks. The biggest problem is recreating the logic of the NFT smart contract in a radically different programming environment.

The only solution was the XP.NETWORK NFT bridge. We have the only bridge that was specifically designed for transferring NFTs across any number of networks, both EVM and non-EVM.

But the most important thing is that our team has the necessary expertise to preserve the smart contract logic when migrating an NFT collection between any two chains. For example, the Rocket Monsters smart contract features royalties: a small percentage of every secondary market sale goes to the project’s treasury.

Of course, this wasn’t the first time that we helped move an NFT collection to a blockchain with a very different architecture: think of how we migrated Drifters from Ethereum to Elrond, for example. The XP team carefully designed a new smart contract and deployed it to Harmony without any complications.

400+ galactic Bears are already available on Harmony

As of the time of writing, 424 NFTs from the Bear Battalion collection have arrived on Harmony. They are listed on two marketplaces: NFTKey and Metatrone. The floor price is around $140.

The team behind Rocket Monsters is actively developing the product – the game itself. They’ve just released Multiplayer version 8, so that playing against other users now feels more exciting than ever. The project also keeps adding new characters to its lineup and new features to the battle mode. The roadmap for the next few months also includes a virtual land sale, a Civil War Map, and an in-game marketplace.

Rocket Monsters is definitely a project worth watching, and we are very pleased that the XP.NETWORK NFT bridge has played such a major role in its success. We are currently working with many other Play-to-Earn games and metaverse platforms to expand their NFT collections to new chains, so new partnerships will be announced very soon.
